The Angel Inn in Niagara-on-the-Lake is said to be the most haunted location in the small Lake Erie coast town. Dozens of guests and staff have experienced paranormal activity and several vow never to return.

The Angel Inn is located in the picturesque town of Niagara-on-the-Lake Ontario. A town with plenty of history, Niagara-on-the-Lake prides itself on its early 19th century architecture and style. Several bylaws are in place to ensure the city maintains its charm and early century feel, which is very evident when you visit the town.

Today, Angel Inn has one permanent resident, Captain Colin Swayze. Captain Swayze was a British soldier in the war of 1812 said to have been murdered in the cellar of the Angel Inn during the war. According to many locals Captain Swayze was killed protecting the British stash of victory booze as American soldiers tried to confiscate it. Today, the ghost of Captain Swayze is said to walk the cellar during the night. Legend has it the only thing keeping him from wandering the rest of the building is the British flag flown religiously above the entrance to the inn.

Visitors have reported loud noises during the evenings in the pub located under the quest rooms. Noises will be frequent and loud during the start of the episodes and then trail off to an eerie calm during the later stages. Hotel staff insist that no work is taking place during the evenings and these noises are the result of the haunting.
