Cham Shan Temple

The Cham Shan Temple in Niagara Falls is an authentic Buddhist temple located on the edge of the Niagara Gorge. The temple is a fully operational place of worship with monks leading worship three times a day (early morning, afternoon, and evening)

The temple has several features to be appreciated. The main complex houses ten thousand miniature gold Buddhas. The Buddhas are housed on shelves throughout the complex. The grounds also host a seven story stupa utilizing authentic Chinese architecture. But the real treat lies within the stupa, a 5 story tall bronze statue of Buddha. The Buddha is a truly awesome work of art that needs to be seen to be believed.

Guided tours are offered on the weekends June through October. During the tour, you will be brought into the main complex that houses the 10,000 Buddhas. You will be asked to remove your shoes upon entering. Once inside, your attention will be focused on the vast amount of small gold Buddhas lining the walls. Before you will stand the ‘Alter of the Enlightened Being of Great Compassion’, the center stone of the complex. If you arrive during prayer time you will be asked to participate.
