If you want to get as close as possible to the falls without actually falling in, look no further than ‘Journey Behind the Falls’ This storied attraction has been amazing people for decades, allowing them to reach out and touch the water as it cascades over the falls.

Your journey begins with a 130 feet decent, by elevator, to the lower portion of the Niagara Gorge. Once at the bottom you will proceed through caves of bedrock on your way to the observation deck. The observation deck is situated about 30 meters from the falls. From this vantage point you can see the true wonder of the Horseshoe Falls, and get a little wet in the process. Following the observation deck you will travel further down the bedrock tunnels, deep behind the falls. At the end of the tunnels are two portals, directly behind the falls. The portals allow you to view the water, screaming by you at over 65 kilometers an hour. More than 2800 cubic meters of water will pass over your location per second, making this a fascinating experience. The entire trip takes about 30 minutes, but it is well worth your time.
