Maid of the Mist

Maid of the MistOverview

Rating:

The Maid of the Mist is North America's oldest tourist attraction, having started official operations in 1846. The attraction features several boats named 'Maid of the Mist', differentiated by roman numerals, transporting tourists to within a few hundred feet of the Horseshoe Falls. It is a truly an awe inspiring experience that needs to be on the top of any visitors to-do list.

The Maid of the Mist operates during the months of May to October. The boats are about 80 feet long and can carry 600 passengers. The boats are powered by several 350-horsepower diesel engines.

The 1/2 hour ride begins on the Canadian side of the Niagara River. All passengers are supplied with complimentary recyclable rain ponchos while waiting in line. Once aboard, passengers have the choice of two external decks to stand, or they may take seats in the fully windowed interior of the boat. The boat departs and makes its way to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. The boat will travel as close as safely possible to the falls, providing visitors with an incredibly powerful experience. The Maid of the Mist will then make its way back down river, traveling very close to the American Falls, before docking and taking on passengers again.
