The Niagara Glen, a nature reserve since 1992, is a picnic and hiking area located about 5 km down river from the brink of Niagara Falls. A local favorite, Niagara Glen features 4 km of nature trails crisscrossing the face of the Niagara Gorge. The trails descend almost 200 feet down the gorge eventually leading to the Niagara River rushing by at about 40 km/hour.

The Niagara Glen enables visitors to experience the natural wonders of Niagara first hand. A wide variety of flora and fauna, massive boulders, and scenic outlooks provide ideal locations for photo opportunities. Large rocks along the shore of the Niagara River offer visitors rest and relaxation areas to enjoy the awesome view around them.

Visitors have several activity options while visiting the glen. Hiking is the obvious choice for most visitors as the experience is second to none. Niagara Glen is a locally known rock climbing destination. Large boulders, some as high as 40 feet, are scattered throughout the gorge providing unique climbing opportunities. Fisherman can drop their line into the Niagara River potentially landing massive salmon on their annual spawn.

Go north along the riverside trail and you will find what locals refer to as 'Pebble Beach'. This small, picturesque beach provides an excellent view of the Sir Adam Beck generation station and it provides an opportunity to view the whirlpool jet boat as it passes within meters of your location.
